Child and Family Development Center
Pillars Community Health offers Head Start, Early Head Start, day care, and parent support.
Pillars Community Health has operated a comprehensive Child Care and Head Start program since 1969. In 2015, we were awarded grantee status to monitor and oversee Head Start programs for 18 area zip codes.
Our Child and Family Development Center offers Head Start, Early Head Start, day care, and support for parents. The Center is accredited by NAEYC and ExceleRate Illinois and licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
We are actively recruiting for Head Start at Pillars Community Health and at our delegate site, The Children’s Center of Cicero-Berwyn.
Half-Day Preschool funded through Head Start
Head Start gives children ages 3-5 from low-income families an opportunity to participate in a preschool setting. The program offers two time slots:
- AM Session: Monday-Thursday, 8 am-11:30 am
- PM Session: Monday-Thursday, 12:30 pm-4 pm
Two nutritious meals or snacks are provided. Bus transportation may be available for eligible families but is not guaranteed.
Full-Day Subsidized Child Care
Child care enables parents of children ages 6 weeks-5 years to work or attend school. Hours are Monday-Friday, 6:45 am-6 pm. Families must meet both Head Start and Child Care Assistance Program eligibility requirements. Assessed co-payment (based on family size and income) is paid monthly. Click here for enrollment information.
Home-Based Head Start and Early Head Start
These home-based programs offers services to pregnant women, and to families with infants/toddlers ages 0-3 as well as families with children ages 3-4. Families meet with home visitors weekly and can also meet with each other in socialization groups at the Center twice monthly.
Parent Support Team
We understand the stresses of parenting and raising small children, but you do not need to deal with these stresses alone. We have a team of people here at Pillars Community Health who are ready to support you and your child in any way we can. Our Parent Support Team provides parent cafes, a time to come together with other parents to learn about a topic from bullying to potty training; consultation on parenting techniques; assessment of your child’s strengths and areas for continued growth; links to community resources; and advocacy. These services are available in both Spanish and English. Parent Cafes are FREE to parents in Lyons Township with children ages 0-8. Registration is required.
