Accreditation and Recognition

Accreditation is a sign of quality for consumers and licensing demonstrates that providers are qualified to provide service.

Pillars Community Health is deeply committed to quality service delivery and positive client outcomes. We regularly evaluate our programs and systems to ensure best practices throughout the agency.

Pillars Community Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center and an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois. Pillars Community Health is a Health Center Program grantee under 42U.S.C.254b, and a deemed Public Health Service Employee under 42 USC233(g)-(n). We are also a federal Head Start grantee, overseeing Head Start programs for 18 area zip codes.

Our Health Center has received HRSA quality awards from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for four years in a row.

In May 2017, we received National Committee of Quality Assurance (NCQA) Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Level 2 Recognition. NCQA’s mission is to improve the quality of health care. As a PCMH health center, Community Nurse utilizes interventions such as care coordination, electronic health records, and team-based care to deliver optimal care for all patients.

Our behavioral health services are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). We have received the highest level of accreditation at each survey since 1995. Our Addictions Services are licensed by the Illinois Department of Human Services.

Our Child and Family Development Center was re-accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in 2017 (less than 10 percent of all child care centers, preschools, and kindergartens receive this recognition, nationally). The Center also received the Gold Circle of Quality designation in its most recent rating from ExceleRate Illinois. The Center is licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

In addition, our programs receive funding and/or are monitored by a variety of federal, state, and local sources, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault (ICASA), the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV), the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS), the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), Cook County Department of Planning and Development, the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County (CEDA), various 708 Boards, various foundations, and our own Board of Directors.
